Project is Done !!!

Hi Everyone,
Here is our featured project a kitchen in need of major help. I decided to use this kitchen as help for everyone out there thinking about a kitchen renovation and FEAR the timeline involved. This will be a good project to show everyone that kitchen renovations are supposed to be fun and don’t take 3 months to complete.

The clients will be going away for 4 weeks to sunny Florida while their dream of new kitchen takes place. We will be starting the project upon their departure and have made it our goal to complete the project upon their arrival.

This growing family has 2 young children and an infant and being a parent myself I can understand the complications and concerns of having a renovation project preformed in the house. This was one of the main reasons for the departure. in most cases, people can leave in the house during renovations. So we will keep you updated on a daily basis and show you that the worst part of kitchen should be deciding what color to choose!!!!!

Kitchen Tips!!!!!!!!!!

  1. Set a budget. Only your budget can determine what is right for you.
  2. When you start planning your renovation, ask yourself some simple questions: How does your family live in your kitchen? Is it formal? Casual? How do you use your kitchen? This will help you decide what the kitchen should look like.
  3. Working with a qualified contractor can help you navigate the challenges and guide you through the unknown elements of building a new kitchen.
  4. Know the specifications of your appliances and the location of your light switches and fixtures before plumbers and electricians come to your home and before the walls are closed.
  5. When designing your kitchen, we recommend working with a professional designer who can answer many of your questions and offer ideas that may not have occurred to you.
  6. Make sure your floor is level and that the sub-flooring is even; this will help you when you install your new flooring.
  7. When you are looking at new appliances, choose style, dependability, and energy efficiency.
  8. When you order your countertops, you need to know what kind of edge you want and the height of the backsplash.
  9. Decide what areas you want to light and make sure you choose the right lighting for your space.
  10. Once you have picked out the foundational pieces, such as the cabinets, the appliances, and the paint color, start looking for special touches like drawer pulls and doorknobs.
  11. Pay attention to details -- they will turn your construction project into a finished and elegant room

“We called Stealth Construction about a year before we planned to redo our kitchen. We had no idea of what we wanted in the new kitchen, but we knew that we couldn't live in our current kitchen much longer. It had been on our "to do" list since moving into the house several years back.

Robert came out to the house and was energetic and enthusiastic from the get-go about the project. He had so many great ideas, we were very excited to get started on the planning. I had heard horror stories from friends who had redone their kitchens (using other companies), and was dreading the whole process, but I felt like Robert (Stealth) and Aimee (kitchen designer) did most of the hard work for us. We had a few meetings with each of them and then we were ready to go. It was so much easier than I ever could have expected it to be. Whenever we hit a wall in our planning, we'd meet with Robert and he'd show up with the same level of energy as he exhibited at our very first meeting, lighting a fire under us once more and getting us excited again, too.

As the face of Stealth, Robert has been easy to get in touch with and knowledgeable about every aspect of the project. His easy-going manner and friendliness have kept us relaxed during what could be a very stressful project. We are thrilled that we will be starting work on the new kitchen soon!”

Customer Update: March 10, 2009

The Demolition Begins ..

The plan was that we were going to fly to Florida to visit family on March 2 so that we would be out of the way during demolition of the old kitchen, but the weather got the better of us. After a giant snowfall, our flight was cancelled and we were rebooked for a flight late March 3. All was well until we forgot to call Stealth. We were repacking and getting everyone ready to go stand by at the airport for hours so we could try to get seats together (our twin three-year olds and our 15 month old's first flight) when my husband said, “Uh ... there's a Stealth truck outside?”

Long story short, we ended up being sort of in the way of the Stealth crew for a couple of hours while we finished up packing. They were great sports - we didn't have time to shovel out a spot for their trucks or to even complete our kitchen cleanup before we cleared out of there. We got our seats on the flight - one twin with his Dad and me with a twin and the baby. The twins did well; the baby did not (he missed a nap due to the demolition plus the wait at the airport).

Now we are in sunny Florida, anxiously awaiting updates and pictures of the work being done back home. The pictures of the demo were unbelievable! All those ugly old green cabinets, cut up laminate countertops, and cracked tile floors are really gone?! We all did a little dance of joy.

Thanks so much!!!:

We came back from vacation to a brand new house! The new kitchen was so nice it felt like I was dreaming ... and a week later it still feels that way.

The work that we laid out in the plan with Stealth before we left Florida was completed beautifully with no surprises, and everything was just about finished in the month that we had set out as a timeline. My husband and I both feel that Stealth went above and beyond the work we had laid out in our plan while still finishing up in a mindbogglingly short stretch of time.

I'm still finding little things that they fixed for us that we never even discussed, but things that were on our own lengthy to do list. For example, I noticed the other day that the drain in the tub was holding water for the first time since we moved in five years ago. I asked my husband about it, and he said, "Yep ... Stealth fixed that for us." They polished up all the floors in the downstairs, fixed missing pieces of the chair rail in the dining room and painted over chips in the paint in the other downstairs rooms. In the bathroom, they put trim to match the rest of the house, which we had discussed, but it's so lovely that I find myself wandering in there many times a day just to look at the trim!

All the little details in the kitchen came together even better than I had envisioned. One of my three-year olds was playing with us at the playground today when he suddenly decided it was time to go home. I asked him why, and he responded that he missed the new kitchen and wanted to go home to see it again. Honestly, that's how good it is.

I told Robert at Stealth that we were looking forward to our next project with him, and he knowingly told us to relax and enjoy the kitchen. Which is our plan. As soon as I can find all of the utensils and dishes and pots and pans that I packed away ...
